Constitution Law
The Practice
The firm advises and represents clients in matters invoking the constitutional writ jurisdiction of the Supreme Court of India and various High Courts. Such matters typically arise from the exercise of public power by the State or statutory authorities, raising questions of jurisdiction, legality, procedural fairness, and compliance with constitutional and statutory mandates. Our constitutional practice is focused on public law disputes where judicial review is sought against administrative action or inaction.
Our involvement often begins prior to litigation. We advise clients on the amenability of proposed respondents to writ jurisdiction, the availability and suitability of alternate statutory remedies, and the viability of invoking constitutional remedies at the threshold. Where recourse to writ jurisdiction is warranted, we design litigation strategy that are legally sustainable, procedurally disciplined, and calibrated to the nature and urgency of the relief sought, with due regard to the institutional role of constitutional courts.
